COA Caraga Joins the 2024 National Women’s Month Celebration

The Commission on Audit, Regional Office No. XIII joined the celebration of the 2024 National Women’s Month with the recurring theme “WE Gender Equality and Inclusive Society” and sub-theme, Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas; Kakayahan ng Kababaihan, Patutunayan!simultaneously with the COA Central Office and other regional offices on March 4, 2024. Spearheaded by COA Caraga Regional Director Merne T. Peñaranda, all personnel from the Regional Office, the Regional Center, as well from the Provincial Satellite Auditing Offices in Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands joined together physically and virtually during the flag raising ceremony as royal purple balloons and outfits stood out to show solidarity and support to women empowerment and gender equality.

The Regional Gender Focal Point System (RGFPS) initiated and united its forces to organize various gender-responsive activities for the NWM, which significantly contributed to the holistic personal well-being of the employees. Among the activities were the symposia on Konsulta Program (Philhealth), Pre-Menopause/Menopause, Andropause, Mental Health Awareness, and Solid Waste Management organized by the Training and Advocacy Committee. Exhibition games were likewise organized by the Committee on Sports and Physical Fitness and PhilGASEA. The Men Opposed to Violence Against Women Everywhere (MOVE), for its part, led the bloodletting sessions.

COA Caraga personnel also actively participated in COA Central Office-sponsored events and trainings through online platform, such as the Livelihood Program on Basic Appliance Servicing (Rice Cooker, Iron, Electric Kettle, Washing Machine, Electric Fan), Updates on Recruitment and Promotion Policies, Updates on Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and 201-Related Policies, Updates on Leave Policies and Systems, Gender Sensitivity Training, Audit of GAD Programs, Film Showing (Retirada), and Online Briefing on the Guidelines in the Conduct of Audit of GAD Programs, Activities and Projects (PAPs) with Climate Change Expenditure Tagging (CCET). These activities provided the participants with wide-ranging information, which were useful in their work and personal growth.

The wearing of the signature purple shirts in all Fridays of March, 2024 and during the opening and closing ceremonies, the posting of streamer/banners outside and inside the Regional Office, and the National Women’s Month Wall showcasing the ”Women who Made Positive Change” made the event more meaningful and symbolic. The month-long event was successfully culminated on March 25, 2024, which was participated by all personnel of COA Region XIII face to face and through virtual platforms.
